Winter Storm Sunday 1st February
Looking increasingly likely that some if not most of us will see some snow next week. The cold air starts digging in from the east at the weekend and the Met Office charts for monday are showing bands of organised snow showers moving from east to west (how often does that happen?!).
Later on next week there is a possibility of more of a northerly that will continue to give snow to many. So a big heads up I think. This winter is beginning to look like it is a copy and paste from the mid 80's! Weather Extremes in Menai Bridge, Anglesey for 2010 Highest Maximum 10.9C Jan 15th Highest Minimum 7.0C Jan 16th Lowest Maximum 1.4C Jan 8th Lowest Minimum -4.2C Jan 4th Thunder Days 0 |

Winter Storm Sunday 1st February
Yes sorry didn't see this post until I put something in the severe weather talk. Looks like it will be cold and snowy like the article says.
I'm hoping the newspapers aren't gonna hype it too much, i.e "Deep freeze and snow set to engulf Britain" or something of that sort - but they always do before and after! Winter Storm Sunday 1st February
Hi there
I thought it would be prudent to merge topics and change the title accordingly to act as storm report thread. I have just been going through the charts and satellite data, it does look like we could be in for quite an interesting start to February. However I would like to quote from the article on MSN by Mr Michael Dukes of the meteogroup "Although still far from certain at this stage" http://www.meteogroup.co.uk/ If you are intending making any journeys please refer to your local Traffic sites for updated reports on travel conditions. So as per usual could you please post your storm reports here thank you Gill-x- Associate fellow: Royal Meteorological Society TORRO SkyWarnUK spotter ID SL002 |

Winter Storm Sunday 1st February
Just watched the forecast on country file and looks like our heaviest snowfall in years to come over the next couple of days here in oxfordshire, fingers crossed as my little brothers and sisters haven't seen what i'd classify as a decent snowfall yet, would be fun for the kids.
On a serious note though these met office predictions will no doubt cause absolute chaos in the South as this country is never prepared for this amount, would not be surprised to see gridlock on the roads, railways closed, airports closed and loss of power supply. Was also most surprised to see predictions of amounts of up to 8 inches in the south and 16 inches across the pennines. I shall try and get photos of the area but would remind anyone travelling to take all precautions as listed elsewhere on this site, shovels, flasks, blankets etc and stay safe all. Have fun. |

Winter Storm Sunday 1st February
The sky has got a lovely warm hue to it right now and looking very heavy in places.
I must admit I have been on netweather running the charts and it does look quite good, also if you run them forward next Sunday we could seeing more snow. The temperatures are really set to drop later in the week. Well it could be a great week for photography and those scenic winter snaps. Winter Storm Sunday 1st February
Hi Rich
It has started here too, netweather has been quite accurate this time with there predictions, according to the charts light flurries at approx 2pm - we got flurries at 2:15pm and they predict heavier prolonged snow fall from 3pm onwards. So we will wait and see. Associate fellow: Royal Meteorological Society TORRO SkyWarnUK spotter ID SL002 |
