Check out this video blog from AccuWeather. Although the storm is now a sub-tropical depression (Met Office have now issued flash warnings for Wales and Midlands associated with it) it is still unusual for a TS/hurricane to form in our region of the Atlantic.

TS Grace heading for U.K.
Just watched the hopelessly dumbed-down bbc weather forecast. I know I've said this a thousand times before, but for crying out loud! Not so much as a mention of the storm system heading our way, just more of the usual "Sunny here, rainy there, but it all looks lovely for thursday!"
It's a sad reflection on us that the beeb doesn't bother with the details anymore, we're obviously all too pig-ignorant to take a real interest in the workings of our weather  http://www.youtube.com/user/71cassini?feature=mhum |

We have had a bit of a welcome break from TD's, the ITCZ looks like it is picking up again with some more storms developing and over the Atlantic there are a two depressions. TD Grace wich looks to hit us by the weekend and it looks like TD Henri may get catagorised as a hurricane soon as it is picking up.
I use stormpulse for tracking depressions and hurricanes, you can scroll through across the world to see what is going. http://www.stormpulse.com/fullscreen/current ArrayIt's a sad reflection on us that the beeb doesn't bother with the details anymore, we're obviously all too pig-ignorant to take a real interest in the workings of our weather[/quote] I have to agree, with our climate changing so much and having such an impact on our surroundings, people are so quick to complain with no understanding of the processes behind and what drives our weather systems. I dare say that is why I decided to do a degree in the Climate. Associate fellow: Royal Meteorological Society TORRO SkyWarnUK spotter ID SL002 |
