My question is can I do this with a digital camera and which ones would you recommend? I don't have unlimited funds so nothing proffesional.
I figure that its got to be cheaper to use digital rather than developing rolls of film for 1 or 2 shots with a strike.
Any advice would be great.

Woke up to 2 inches of snow and it looks like we are in for a day of it as it is still snowing and form sat24 data could be quite a bit more too.

The occlusion bringing the snow to the many areas looks to be sweeping northward from the North of England and could affect SW Scotland, Lothian and Borders, Strathclyde, Northern Ireland and push in to Grampian regions by late afternoon early evening.

There is a small trough sitting over much of Eire and extending in to NI and Wales, another front from the low pressure system hangs over Southern Wales and the Southern Counties.

The satellite is showing a rather dense area to the east of the northern half of the UK bring more snow as the day progresses.

Thought I would give people heads up on a nasty virus doing the rounds.

The Security Tool Virus attacks your system, slowing it down, cutting off your internet connection and corrupts the OLE archive, throwing up StrIndex 1 errors, stringtable errors, SEQ_TABLE_STREAM errors and general ID errors.

Once it has worked through your system a pale blue screen appears saying your system is affected and that your computer will experience, slow internet connection, corrupt data, loss of data, etc. Then a second screen appears asking you to pay £39 via credit/debt card to a random account somewhere.

This is quite a pain to remove from your system, but there is a tool you can download to remove it, (I would post a link but I am not sure if my system is fully cleared)

Also worth noting is the amount of people that have it all share a few things in common and that is they have been using ebay and paypal also use Avast software.

I would love to kick the prat in the ba77$, assuming they are male

Monday
Pressure - High pressure over the south of the country and a Low pressure system hanging over the North of the UK with a depression sweeping it’s way southward as the day progresses as a trough hangs over Scotland and in to Northern England.
Temps – Temperatures remain above freezing most of the day and then in to early evening we see the temps fall away slightly over Grampian, South West Scotland in to Cumbria.
Winds – The winds remain relatively calm over the UK and Ireland with the North of Scotland and the Western coastal regions seeing a fresh coastal breeze.
Snow risk – As Monday progresses the Low pressure system dominates the UK bring the risk of snow to a moderate level to the North of the Country.
Areas at risk – Monday starts with the North of Scotland seeing a moderate risk and this extending down to cover North Wales, Ireland and in to the Midlands by the evening.

Tuesday
Pressure - Low pressure now dominating the whole of the UK, the depression now affecting the majority of England and Wales, with a weaker front hanging over Ireland over the second half of the day.
Temps – A widespread frost affecting much of the UK and Ireland in the morning with temperatures creeping up to above freezing by midday. In to the evening we see the temperatures dropping again with a widespread frost over the UK and Ireland.
Wind – Winds relatively calm over much of the UK with the North of Scotland seeing winds picking up to a strong breeze with the risk of some strong gusts.
Snow risk – The day starts with the moderate risk of snow over higher ground in Scotland, Ireland, The Midlands and into Wales, with the south coastal regions remaining clear.

There is an added risk of Thunder for some Western Coastal regions as an unstable airmass to the west pushes in, however the values remain at the lower scale for the moment but could trigger some Thundersnow events and storms, will update this forecast regularly and check storm risk when the next GFS runs come in.

Hi All,

On the basis that there is no such thing as a silly question....

What is the best way to go about chasing? I have read many threads with great interest and have a good idea about the kit which you can buy [hand held's, weather stations etc] plus the use of Sat 24/Netweather radar. However, at what point do you jump in the car and start chasing?

Are there any chasers in the Chester area?

Thanks for your help.
